Earnestly Speaking - by Ernie Christie

The saddest verse in the Bible is Romans 3:23. It is in this verse that man learns he is guilty of sin.

The most beautiful verse in the Bible is John 3:16. It is in this verse that man learns of God’s great love for him and God’s way of salvation.

The most amazing verse in the Bible is Romans 5:8. It is in this verse that man learns that God demonstrated His love toward him while he was a sinner.

The most pointed verse in the Bible is Luke 6:46. It is in this verse Jesus asks His most embarrassing question: “Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord’ and do not do the things I say?”

The most troubling verse in the Bible is 2 Timothy 3:12. It is in this verse that the Christian learns that “all who will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.” What troubles me about this passage is that I am not suffering all that much persecution. Does that mean the Christian who is suffering little (if any) persecution is not living a godly life?

The most encouraging verse in the Bible is Philippians 4:13. This verse states: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
