TIME FOR THE BIBLE

Randy Keeling

With the Bible we have a very wonderful opportunity. We have the ways and methods to please God before us. We have examples of good Godly living and we have examples of poor Satanic living. We have God's expectations for humanity clearly laid out. It does not take a doctorate degree to understand what God expects of us. So often people use the excuse that the Bible is so hard to understand that they cannot possibly follow it. God has caused His Word to be written so that the basic level of human knowledge is all that is necessary to understand His Holy Will. By applying time, basic reasoning, and basic common sense we can discover God's plan for our lives.

In our current society time seems to be the great limiter. We seemingly have no time to read the Bible, listen to someone else read the Bible, have personal Bible study, study the Bible with others, and in other words no time to devote to the betterment of our spiritual being. We invest time in so many other pursuits though. We devote much time to entertainment, the pursuit of pleasure, the pursuit of wealth, the pursuit of ...... The list goes on and on of the temporary things that we devote so much time to. When the final analysis comes through it is not that we do not have the time it is that we do not take the time. We work for the temporary pleasure and neglect the permanent joy.

God has given us a great opportunity, guidelines on how to obtain it, help in obtaining it, and a wonderful reward for obtaining the goal of pleasing Him. We must take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. It is truly the offer that we cannot afford to pass up, a better life now and especially for eternity. Let's get started now and make it a priority to read the Bible everyday and to never miss an opportunity to come together and study God's wonderful Word.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

        Psalm 119:105

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

                     Matthew 24:35

Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

      2 Timothy 2:15
